Girl meets BOY!!!!!!

Girl Meets BOY…

I was recently at Jcrew this weekend and I saw their catalog.  They featured a ” borrow from the boys ” kind of editorial for their summer collection.  I got inspired and decided I should do one since my style really does have a dose of boyish feel to it.  So where can I steal some boy clothes?? Obviously my hubby’s closet.  For this blog I chose 4 things that is easy to borrow from your significant other.

1.  his Button Down

I paired his button up with one of my slouchy black shorts and my wedges.  I would just add a black blazer then it could be a new take on a summer suit.

Shirt: H&M

Shorts: Express

Wedge: Wythe NY

Bag: My own design  made of Nubuck leather

2. his Sweater

I paired his sweater with my silk pants  and a white tank.  It is perfect for summer nights when it gets a bit chilly.

Sweater: Jcrew

Silk Cargo: Jcrew

white tank: Madewell

3. his Shorts

This pair of shorts was purchased from the men’s section at H&M because B would not be caught wearing these itty bitty shorts.  But we can really borrow our boy’s shorts every now and then.  I love the slouchy comfy feel of it and you can pair it anything from sweaters, tanks or tees.

Shorts: H&M

Sweater: Jcrew

Sandals: Renly

4.  his Watch

timex

This is actually the easiest thing to steal from your man and very trendy right now.  I chose his Timex for this look and I just added some bangles to add my own touch to it.

Watch: Timex

Tank: Madewell

Cargo: Jcrew

The next time you run out of outfit ideas and really have no time to go and shop,  just go straight to his closet and steal a few things.

Madewell and TravelAnneStyle.. perfect combo!!!!!

Chambrays all you need!!!

As you reach a certain age, you tend to only have a few stores in mind when shopping… for clothes ( with shoes it’s another story ). I always seem to gravitate towards Madewell and Jcrew.  It so happens that both are actually sister stores and have the same effortlessly cool style to them.  Before Madewell, I was a Jcrew addict.  I love every single thing in that store ( after Jenna Lyons took over as Creative director ).  A mix of basics and classics which you would find a lot in my wardrobe.  But when Madewell started popping up in Baltimore, I fell in love.  The style is a bit more casual and the prices are definitely lower than Jcrew.  Ever since then I have found myself shopping there almost 90% of the time.  So, for this post, I wanted to share my most favorite piece from Madewell; their Chambray Shirts.  This should be added to the new basics, right next to our white tees.

2 CHAMBRAYS 2 WAYS!!

Lighter Hue…

chambray

Madewell Chambray

For something casual to wear for meetings, brunch with the girls or even a coffee break with your significant other.  Here I paired my chambray with a mini wool skirt, both from Madewell and with a navy oxford by Christian Louboutin ( I purchased during my trip to Paris ). I chose the ” boyish ” style shoes since the skirt is a bit short.  It balances the look so it won’t be too sexy for day to day wear.  You can also pair this with ballet flats or even low top chucks in white, then add a baseball cap.  You can play around with accessories with this look since it’s simple.

Madewell

For a easy movie date look: I paired  it with skinny jeans and a jeweled sweatshirt; both from Madewell. This is a more monochromatic look so I decided to pair it with my Missoni colorful pumps.  I chose a bigger style top for this since i’m wearing skinny jeans.  Basic rule: Loose top tighter bottom and vice versa.

Chambray

Madewell Chambray and lace

Summer ready look:  I paired my darker color chambray with my lace shorts both from Madewell.  The shorts are high waisted so I decided to wear it with my bikini top just to show a little skin.  The chambray acts as a cover up.  You can wear this while walking along the boardwalk or just to chill before dipping in the pool or beach.  I chose the green suede ballet flats to match the bikini and to add a pop of color.  ( ballet flats: Madewell ).

For the office:  Instead of wearing jeans for ” casual ” Fridays at work, try a chambray instead and pair it with printed pants.  I chose nude heels ( by Christian Louboutin ) for this look to add length to my legs.

” I’m going down, down baby, yo street in a Range Rover”

-Nelly

This blog got “country” written all over it. When I think of ‘Country” Nelly’s Country Grammar seems to be the first thing that pops in my head. So why not name this Country Grammar.. We all know summer is right around the corner, more like this friday. For this post, Nothing say summer than Gingham print. I recently purchased Church’s loafer in gingham print. I wanted to style it for this shoot. My husband been eyeing this one barn near us and he thought this outfit was perfect.

SKORT-ing around town!!!!!!!

With my Celine

Skorts are back!

What the hell is a Skort? A skort is pretty much a skirt and shorts in one.  I remembered I had a pair of white skorts when I was a freshman in high school which was back in the 90’s.  When I saw this pair at Zara it brought me back to my teen years.  They are the most comfortable skirt/shorts I have ever owned and can be both casual or dressy.  Unfortunately, Zara only has them available  in black now. I was lucky that I was able to get this.  The white pair became popular with most of the fashion bloggers.  I love how everyone wears it so differently.  I wanted to dress it up a bit so I wore heels with my skorts.

Avenue of the Giants

I had a pleasure to visit the Redwoods in Northern California. I have always wanted to see these gentle giants. They are the oldest and tallest trees in the entire world. They stand from 200-350 ft with diameters of 10 to 15 feet but the widest measured with the circumference of 52 feet. The Coastal Redwoods can live up to 2000 years old. They got the name from the color of their bark and heartwood.
