Desert Blues

Here’s our very first on location editorial shot at El Mirage Dry Lake Bed.  We wanted to emulate those classic “90’s” ads that had supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and the likes..

” mask.” part 2 of ” WITHIN. ” series by BeMoreMedia

” We have the choice of two identities. The external mask which seems to be real…. and the hidden, inner person who seems to us to be nothing. “

– Thomas Merton

This mini collection is called, ” mask.” because at times, whether we realize it or not, EVERYONE  can feel like they have to cover their true identities to fit into what society says is ideal. We admire celebrities, models and socialites because we think that they have it all. But in reality we are all different. We cannot be molded into just one type. We need to embrace our differences and know that we are all beautiful in our own way.

” Snow White ” by TravelAnneStyle and BeMoreMEdia

snow-white-image

A girl who is as white as snow, with lips as red as blood, and with hair as black as ebony. They named her ‘Snow White’,

Snow  White is Disney’s adaptation from the German fairytale by the Brothers Grimm.  Snow White is a princess that is living with her cruel and wicked stepmother after the death of both of her parents.   Her stepmother, the evil queen, is so jealous of Snow White’s beauty that she ordered one of her huntsman to kill  her in the forbidden forest.  The huntsman pitied Snow White; so he just left her there hoping that she will not survive the night.   There, she found a cottage and surprisingly met 7  dwarfs.

SNOW WHITE

Our very first princess in this series.  My inspiration for this shoot came from the Snow White movie with Julia Roberts and Lilly Collins.  I wanted her to be simple, innocent and young.  We decided to use Brie Doffing as our Snow White.  Its so happens that she has worked with Disney as one of the princesses in the Disneyland in Japan.  Brie is a model/actress and one of the sweetest people you can ever meet.

For this shoot we worked with one of the best make up artists in LA, Albert Elizondo.  He is amazing and really captured what we had in mind for Snow White.

“The EVIL QUEEN” by TravelAnneStyle and BEMOREMEDIA

The Evil Queen

THE EVIL QUEEN

The Evil Queen or also known as, “Wicked Queen,” is the main villain in the fairy tale, “Snow White.”  She is a vindictive stepmother who is obsessed about being, ” the fairest of the land.” She owns a, “magical mirror,” that told her that her step daughter, Snow White, has surpassed her beauty.  She became so jealous of Snow White that she ordered one of her huntsman to kill her in the forbidden dark forest.  The Hunstman pitied Snow White and let her go.  When The Queen found out that Snow White was still alive, she decided to take it upon herself to kill her.  She used her dark powers to transform herself into an old lady and gave Snow White a poisoned apple to eliminate her.

For this shoot we worked with the beautiful Maria Foti.  She is one of the first talented dancers/choreographers here in LA that we met when we moved here to LA 9 months ago.  When I thought of adding Snow White and the Evil Queen to our editorial series, I imagined Maria to be the Queen.  She has that royal look to her and I thought she would be perfect.

Girl meets BOY!!!!!!

Girl Meets BOY…

I was recently at Jcrew this weekend and I saw their catalog.  They featured a ” borrow from the boys ” kind of editorial for their summer collection.  I got inspired and decided I should do one since my style really does have a dose of boyish feel to it.  So where can I steal some boy clothes?? Obviously my hubby’s closet.  For this blog I chose 4 things that is easy to borrow from your significant other.

1.  his Button Down

I paired his button up with one of my slouchy black shorts and my wedges.  I would just add a black blazer then it could be a new take on a summer suit.

Shirt: H&M

Shorts: Express

Wedge: Wythe NY

Bag: My own design  made of Nubuck leather

2. his Sweater

I paired his sweater with my silk pants  and a white tank.  It is perfect for summer nights when it gets a bit chilly.

Sweater: Jcrew

Silk Cargo: Jcrew

white tank: Madewell

3. his Shorts

girl meets boy shorts

This pair of shorts was purchased from the men’s section at H&M because B would not be caught wearing these itty bitty shorts.  But we can really borrow our boy’s shorts every now and then.  I love the slouchy comfy feel of it and you can pair it anything from sweaters, tanks or tees.

Shorts: H&M

Sweater: Jcrew

Sandals: Renly

4.  his Watch

timex

This is actually the easiest thing to steal from your man and very trendy right now.  I chose his Timex for this look and I just added some bangles to add my own touch to it.

Watch: Timex

Tank: Madewell

Cargo: Jcrew

The next time you run out of outfit ideas and really have no time to go and shop,  just go straight to his closet and steal a few things.

Madewell and TravelAnneStyle.. perfect combo!!!!!

Chambrays all you need!!!

As you reach a certain age, you tend to only have a few stores in mind when shopping… for clothes ( with shoes it’s another story ). I always seem to gravitate towards Madewell and Jcrew.  It so happens that both are actually sister stores and have the same effortlessly cool style to them.  Before Madewell, I was a Jcrew addict.  I love every single thing in that store ( after Jenna Lyons took over as Creative director ).  A mix of basics and classics which you would find a lot in my wardrobe.  But when Madewell started popping up in Baltimore, I fell in love.  The style is a bit more casual and the prices are definitely lower than Jcrew.  Ever since then I have found myself shopping there almost 90% of the time.  So, for this post, I wanted to share my most favorite piece from Madewell; their Chambray Shirts.  This should be added to the new basics, right next to our white tees.

2 CHAMBRAYS 2 WAYS!!

Lighter Hue…

chambray

Madewell Chambray

For something casual to wear for meetings, brunch with the girls or even a coffee break with your significant other.  Here I paired my chambray with a mini wool skirt, both from Madewell and with a navy oxford by Christian Louboutin ( I purchased during my trip to Paris ). I chose the ” boyish ” style shoes since the skirt is a bit short.  It balances the look so it won’t be too sexy for day to day wear.  You can also pair this with ballet flats or even low top chucks in white, then add a baseball cap.  You can play around with accessories with this look since it’s simple.

Madewell

For a easy movie date look: I paired  it with skinny jeans and a jeweled sweatshirt; both from Madewell. This is a more monochromatic look so I decided to pair it with my Missoni colorful pumps.  I chose a bigger style top for this since i’m wearing skinny jeans.  Basic rule: Loose top tighter bottom and vice versa.

Darker hue…

Chambray

Madewell Chambray and lace

Summer ready look:  I paired my darker color chambray with my lace shorts both from Madewell.  The shorts are high waisted so I decided to wear it with my bikini top just to show a little skin.  The chambray acts as a cover up.  You can wear this while walking along the boardwalk or just to chill before dipping in the pool or beach.  I chose the green suede ballet flats to match the bikini and to add a pop of color.  ( ballet flats: Madewell ).

madewell

For the office:  Instead of wearing jeans for ” casual ” Fridays at work, try a chambray instead and pair it with printed pants.  I chose nude heels ( by Christian Louboutin ) for this look to add length to my legs.

Basic Instinct with the talented MrB!!!!

Zara Black suit

You think jeans and tee is good enough, but why just be good enough when you can be your best.  For this blog I wanted to share the dude’s side of the basics.  This will  pretty much emulate my previous Parisian Chic blog.  I picked out five top basic things a dude needs in his closet.  It’s easy and available everywhere.

The BLAZER

Blazer by Zara

Blazer by Zara  blazer by Zara

Instead of light jacket try using a blazer with your tees and pair it with nice chinos, cords or even jeans.  It will keep you warm and still be in style.

The CARDIGAN

cardigan by Jcrew

JCrew Cardigan

I wanted to use a cardigan instead of a V-neck sweater.  A sweater on guys are overly used so why not stand out amongst the rest and use a navy cardigan.  It has the same effect as a sweater but a bit more edgy.  Keep the color simple and solid.  Printed cardigans kind of remind me of a grandpa.

The WHITE TEE

hanes white tee

white tee hanes

When you reach a certain age, it’s time to give the graphic tees a rest.  Try a simple white tee. It’s a classic and really easy to style.  Plus, it’s cheap.

The LEATHER JACKET

Zara Letterman jacket

zara letterman jacket

Now this is a personal choice.  I think some guys can totally pull off the bad boy motorcycle jacket but B definitely can’t.  So, I chose this letterman jacket for him.. It fits his personality and is easy to wear.

The BLACK SUIT

black suit by Zara

black suit by zara

This is the equivalent to a LBD for the ladies.  Every man ( I mean anyone above the age of 21 ) should have a nice fitted black suit.  It can really save the day.  It can be formal or casual.  For this, it’s pretty casual but just add a bow tie or even a skinny black tie then you can wear it to a black tie event.  The best way to stand out with a black suit is pairing it with one awesome shoes.  His favorite Dragan Mrdja blue suede shoes just pop with this outfit.

I love how guys nowadays are concerned about their own personal style. Especially here in Los Angeles.   The best designers out there are men; Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Elie Saab and Alber Elbaz.  It’s not that difficult to add some style into your day to day outfit.   It’s as easy as switching your hoodie for a nice blazer or trench.   I hope this will inspire you guys out there.  Nothing says sexy more than a nice confident man.
