A guide to Parisian Chic

Parisian Chic by TravelAnneStyle

Whether or not you’ve had the chance to visit Paris; This book is the only guide you will ever need.  Celebrity and model Ines de la Fressange takes you on a trip of a lifetime with her book.  She shares the well-kept secrets of how Parisian women maintain effortless glamour and a timeless allure.

” Parisian style is an attitude, a state of mind.”

Parisian loves to mix luxury and affordable pieces and never worry about what is trending.  She knows that she will never go out of style.  Her biggest tip is: Fashion should always be fun.

The entire book is not only a guide on Parisian style, but it tackles everything else from beauty tips, home decor, how to organize your closet and of course favorite places to eat in Paris.  This book inspired me so much that I had to blog about her tips on the, “Not so Basic,” things you only need in your closet.  The Parisian builds her look around fabulous basics.

The Blazer

The masculine/feminine and not the masculine/masculine.  You have to know how to give it that feminine touch.  For my outfit I chose skinny dark jeans with some sexy booties.  Add a belt then push up the sleeves- for the ultimate, “easy chic,” statement.  I actually got mine from a thrift shop in Philly.  This was a boys school blazer.

** fashion faux pas: A miniskirt with a masculine blazer. An ultra feminine skirt kills the jackets impact.

The Trench

Roll up or push up the sleeves and scrunch the collar to make it less rigid.  It should look like you’ve been wearing it forever, like second skin.  I bought this trench coat in the Burberry flagship store in London.  It was the perfect souvenir of my travel.

** fashion faux pas: The military look.  Never over emphasize the “wartime” trench aspect of your coat.

A navy sweater

( I chose a gray one since it looks better on me than navy )

A clean cut simple v-neck style can we worn with almost anything.  For day look you can wear flats and at night just switch to heels and a bunch of bangles ( think “click” not bling )

** fashion faux pas: None really. It’s risk free look.

The Tank

( I chose a white tee instead. It’s more forgiving than a tank. They are both universal and a “must have” for every closet. )

Keep it simple: white, black, gray or navy.

The Little Black Dress

The little black dress is not just an item of clothing, it’s universal, a concept, and an abstract.  It’s an open secret:  it can save a day from whatever situation wherever you are and whatever season.  Every girl should have one good black dress that makes you feel gorgeous.

The essential look: simplicity with a dose of elegance.

I actually got this dress from my mother-in-law.  It’s the perfect shift dress that can be dressed up or down and very comfortable.

The Perfect Jeans

We may have dozens and dozens of pair of jeans but we only have a few  favorites.  A perfect pair of jeans is something that fits you good and comfortable .

The Leather Jacket

Guaranteed to save any overly conventional look.  I actually found this jacket online at Asos and I have been wearing it every year. The color is easy to match and the style gives it a bit of rock and roll.

Welcome to the 8th wonder of the world. Monument Valley (Navajo: Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, meaning valley of the rocks) is located on the Arizona and Utah state line. It is characterized by its unique sandstone formations, mesas and buttes. The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation which is one of the largest native american reservations in the US. The monuments in the park have descriptive names of which were assigned by the early settlers of the valley. The top picture shows the East and West Mittens and the smaller one is called the Merrick butte.

The Plain White TEE!!!!!

The Plain white tee

In my white tee…

I never leave the house without my white tee. It is the number one must have in all my wardrobe for all season. For this post I wanted to show how versatile it can be. When I travel its the only style of top I have. Its available everywhere and very affordable. One of my favorite is from JCREW in vintage cotton. In this post I styled it with shorts, maxi skirt, an LBD, slouchy pants and BF jeans. Nothing says summer more than a white tee..

Country Grammar!!!

City girl.. in the country

” I’m going down, down baby, yo street in a Range Rover”

-Nelly

This blog got “country” written all over it. When I think of ‘Country” Nelly’s Country Grammar seems to be the first thing that pops in my head. So why not name this Country Grammar.. We all know summer is right around the corner, more like this friday. For this post, Nothing say summer than Gingham print. I recently purchased Church’s loafer in gingham print. I wanted to style it for this shoot. My husband been eyeing this one barn near us and he thought this outfit was perfect.

SKORT-ing around town!!!!!!!

With my Celine

Skorts are back!

What the hell is a Skort? A skort is pretty much a skirt and shorts in one.  I remembered I had a pair of white skorts when I was a freshman in high school which was back in the 90’s.  When I saw this pair at Zara it brought me back to my teen years.  They are the most comfortable skirt/shorts I have ever owned and can be both casual or dressy.  Unfortunately, Zara only has them available  in black now. I was lucky that I was able to get this.  The white pair became popular with most of the fashion bloggers.  I love how everyone wears it so differently.  I wanted to dress it up a bit so I wore heels with my skorts.

Avenue of the Giants

I had a pleasure to visit the Redwoods in Northern California. I have always wanted to see these gentle giants. They are the oldest and tallest trees in the entire world. They stand from 200-350 ft with diameters of 10 to 15 feet but the widest measured with the circumference of 52 feet. The Coastal Redwoods can live up to 2000 years old. They got the name from the color of their bark and heartwood.
