Basic Instinct with the talented MrB!!!!

Zara Black suit

You think jeans and tee is good enough, but why just be good enough when you can be your best.  For this blog I wanted to share the dude’s side of the basics.  This will  pretty much emulate my previous Parisian Chic blog.  I picked out five top basic things a dude needs in his closet.  It’s easy and available everywhere.

The BLAZER

Instead of light jacket try using a blazer with your tees and pair it with nice chinos, cords or even jeans.  It will keep you warm and still be in style.

The CARDIGAN

JCrew Cardigan

I wanted to use a cardigan instead of a V-neck sweater.  A sweater on guys are overly used so why not stand out amongst the rest and use a navy cardigan.  It has the same effect as a sweater but a bit more edgy.  Keep the color simple and solid.  Printed cardigans kind of remind me of a grandpa.

The WHITE TEE

When you reach a certain age, it’s time to give the graphic tees a rest.  Try a simple white tee. It’s a classic and really easy to style.  Plus, it’s cheap.

The LEATHER JACKET

Zara Letterman jacket

Now this is a personal choice.  I think some guys can totally pull off the bad boy motorcycle jacket but B definitely can’t.  So, I chose this letterman jacket for him.. It fits his personality and is easy to wear.

The BLACK SUIT

This is the equivalent to a LBD for the ladies.  Every man ( I mean anyone above the age of 21 ) should have a nice fitted black suit.  It can really save the day.  It can be formal or casual.  For this, it’s pretty casual but just add a bow tie or even a skinny black tie then you can wear it to a black tie event.  The best way to stand out with a black suit is pairing it with one awesome shoes.  His favorite Dragan Mrdja blue suede shoes just pop with this outfit.

I love how guys nowadays are concerned about their own personal style. Especially here in Los Angeles.   The best designers out there are men; Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Elie Saab and Alber Elbaz.  It’s not that difficult to add some style into your day to day outfit.   It’s as easy as switching your hoodie for a nice blazer or trench.   I hope this will inspire you guys out there.  Nothing says sexy more than a nice confident man.

Parisian Chic… Style and Book blog!!!!

A guide to Parisian Chic

Parisian Chic by TravelAnneStyle

Whether or not you’ve had the chance to visit Paris; This book is the only guide you will ever need.  Celebrity and model Ines de la Fressange takes you on a trip of a lifetime with her book.  She shares the well-kept secrets of how Parisian women maintain effortless glamour and a timeless allure.

” Parisian style is an attitude, a state of mind.”

Parisian loves to mix luxury and affordable pieces and never worry about what is trending.  She knows that she will never go out of style.  Her biggest tip is: Fashion should always be fun.

The entire book is not only a guide on Parisian style, but it tackles everything else from beauty tips, home decor, how to organize your closet and of course favorite places to eat in Paris.  This book inspired me so much that I had to blog about her tips on the, “Not so Basic,” things you only need in your closet.  The Parisian builds her look around fabulous basics.

The Blazer

The masculine/feminine and not the masculine/masculine.  You have to know how to give it that feminine touch.  For my outfit I chose skinny dark jeans with some sexy booties.  Add a belt then push up the sleeves- for the ultimate, “easy chic,” statement.  I actually got mine from a thrift shop in Philly.  This was a boys school blazer.

** fashion faux pas: A miniskirt with a masculine blazer. An ultra feminine skirt kills the jackets impact.

The Trench

Roll up or push up the sleeves and scrunch the collar to make it less rigid.  It should look like you’ve been wearing it forever, like second skin.  I bought this trench coat in the Burberry flagship store in London.  It was the perfect souvenir of my travel.

** fashion faux pas: The military look.  Never over emphasize the “wartime” trench aspect of your coat.

A navy sweater

( I chose a gray one since it looks better on me than navy )

A clean cut simple v-neck style can we worn with almost anything.  For day look you can wear flats and at night just switch to heels and a bunch of bangles ( think “click” not bling )

** fashion faux pas: None really. It’s risk free look.

The Tank

( I chose a white tee instead. It’s more forgiving than a tank. They are both universal and a “must have” for every closet. )

Keep it simple: white, black, gray or navy.

The Little Black Dress

The little black dress is not just an item of clothing, it’s universal, a concept, and an abstract.  It’s an open secret:  it can save a day from whatever situation wherever you are and whatever season.  Every girl should have one good black dress that makes you feel gorgeous.

The essential look: simplicity with a dose of elegance.

I actually got this dress from my mother-in-law.  It’s the perfect shift dress that can be dressed up or down and very comfortable.

The Perfect Jeans

We may have dozens and dozens of pair of jeans but we only have a few  favorites.  A perfect pair of jeans is something that fits you good and comfortable .

The Leather Jacket

Guaranteed to save any overly conventional look.  I actually found this jacket online at Asos and I have been wearing it every year. The color is easy to match and the style gives it a bit of rock and roll.
